Great Falls Fire Rescue has been extremely busy the last few weeks with multiple house fires.

And that trend appears to continue with a recent fire on Monday, April 14th, 2025.

Early Morning House Fire In Great Falls

At 1:46 AM, Great Falls Fire Rescue received a report of an active fire at 321 1st Ave. SW.

Platoon A responded to the house fire shortly after receiving the call.

According to initial reports, the fire stemmed from a generator outside the residence.

Great Falls Fire Rescue Truck 2 was dispatched and arrived at the location by 1:51 AM.

All the home's occupants, including their pets, were safely outside.

Firefighters noticed the flames spreading quickly on the home's exterior from the first and second floors.

Great Falls Fire Mutual Aid

Due to the severity of the fire, a second alarm was sounded, prompting the Montana Air, National Guard, and Malmstrom Air Force Base fire departments to reinforce city resources.

The Great Falls Fire Rescue Platoon A entered the structure and found the fire had breached a wall and was entering the attic.

This made fighting the fire more difficult because the home was lath and plaster construction.

According to reports, the fire caused substantial damage, and the home has been rendered a total loss.

2nd Fire In One Year

Coincidentally, this week marks one year since a previous fire damaged the rear apartment at the same address.

Two of the five residents who were in the home were transported to Benefits East for evaluation, and their medical condition remains undisclosed.

The American Red Cross was alerted to assist the families.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be sparked by a generator situated next to the home.
