Welp... here we are in November in Montana and we're looking at temperatures hanging around the 50s this week. If I'm being honest, I feel pretty good about it too! As someone who was born and raised in South Texas, it feels like solid November weather.

That is, at least, until I reveal that the upcoming Montana winter will be my first. It's only then that I get hit in the face (metaphorically) with some hard-hitting facts about Montana winters.

Locals React To Newcomer's First Montana Winter

Point blank: I've only spent about four years of my life "up north" which means I've only experienced four winters outside of Texas in my life. All four of those were spent in Boise, Idaho where the winters are considered mild compared to what Montana is historically known for.

Now, some Montana locals have told me that Boise, Idaho is a great "training ground" of sorts for someone like myself, who's never experienced severe weather conditions with temperatures below zero.

On the other hand, I've also had a plethora of other responses with some even offering advice to survive the winters.
