In case you missed the news, fireworks are officially banned from being fired off within Great Falls city limits. The ban passed with 55% of voters voting "Yes" which means citizens will be restricted to "fountain" fireworks, smoke bombs, and attending city firework shows.

Now that the dust has settled, the people of Great Falls are sounding off.

The People of Great Falls Are Divided About The New Fireworks Ban

With the ban narrowly passing with 55% of votes, it should come as no surprise that public opinions are just as split down the middle.

On one hand, there are those excited about the ban citing reasons ranging from PTSD to fire safety.

"Personally I cant stand the fireworks bc i see the effects!," Christine I. wrote on our Facebook page, "Get over it or move somewhere where you can fire them off! Simple as that."

"I work with veterans and a lot of them have severe PTSD and 4th of July is a very hard day! Not only for the veterans but also pets! I am so happy this passed!"

Ban Or No Ban: Montanans Are Ready For Fireworks

While the ban did pass, that won't stop a select group of Montanans from letting their freedom ring.

"Just give me a fine because I’ll still be lighting off all the fireworks on my favorite holiday!" one person shared on our Facebook page.

"To those who wanted the ban, do you think that all the loud noise and fire will go away now???" another wrote.

"The fireworks ban isn’t gonna do anything. People will still buy and the cops will be too busy to cite everyone. Fourth of July will be just fine," said another.
