MAGIE 2026 is drawing to a close and it was definitely one for the books. Not only is it the time and place for folks in the ag industry to network and conduct business, but it's also a place to celebrate the ag community.

Montana Governor Gianforte recently shared his thoughts about MAGIE 2026 with 560 KMON.

Governor Gianforte Joins 560 KMON: MAGIE 2026

Governor Gianforte joined Chris Cards and Baker Bob on 560 KMON Friday morning (1/23), which also happens to be the final day of MAGIE 2026. Governor Gianforte addressed several happenings around the state including the firearm industry and the state's education.

We also asked him about MAGIE 2026 and if there was anything he'd like to say directly to our ag community.

"Ag is our number one industry, you're the very fiber of our communities, you give back in so many ways," the Governor said by phone.

"We just returned last fall on a marketing trip to both South Korea and Japan. It's so important - we want the world to know that we produce the best beef in the world, our farmers produce some of the highest protein grains."

Ain't that the truth! The beef here is unlike any other but as Governor Gianforte also pointed out, we also have some of the most resilient folks working in ag.

Governor Gianforte Discusses The Grain Market

Governor Gianforte also addressed the grain market and acknowledged that things aren't where he wants them to be.

"I just met with the grain growers here last week, understand the markets are not as strong as we want them to be right here but I know our farmers are resilient," Governor Gianforte said.

"My question to them was what else could the state do? So, we're working on trying to make sure that next generation farmer can get in on some ground, and make a living here because it's so important to what we do and make sure to the extent we're opening up and expanding markets around the world."

"We want to make sure there's places for this grain to flow and we get paid for the high-quality grains we produce here."

Governor Gianforte's Message To MAGIE 2026

Governor Gianforte wrapped up our conversation with a special thanks to the Montana ag community.

To each farmer: Thank you. And if there's something we can do, I'm proud that we have a farmer in charge of the Department of Agriculture in Jillian Street from Chester, she's walked in your shoes and we want to be your partner in making sure you have a fruitful future in front of you.
