"AI-generated receipts now account for 14% of all fraudulent documents submitted to employers last month," said the October 28th report from Fox Business.

An interesting takeaway from the Fox report is what was said by trial attorney and legal analyst about using AI to generate fake receipts: it could be classified as wire fraud or even bank fraud.

And as evidenced by the case of Raymond Marcellous Blair of Great Falls, one wire fraud charge can catch you felony charges with one count of wire fraud earning you up to 20 years in federal prison.

For business owners, the best course of prevention is to double-check all that you pay out and be as cautious as you can. If you have a company card to track expenses or if you're able to foot the bill at the point of sale, that's even better.
