Montana’s Cannabis Sales Are BOOMING According To Latest Report
In case we've never had a chance to meet, I've moved to Montana about three months ago from Boise, Idaho where my family and I lived for a little over four years. Before that, I spent my whole career and life near San Antonio, Texas.
So, when I first arrived in Montana, it was my first time living in a state where cannabis/marijuana is legally sold.
And Montana Sure Does Love Its Grass!
Being born and spending 34 years of my existence in South Texas, I am still getting used to seeing so many dispensaries (and casinos) in the Great Falls area. And looking further into it, business is booming for the dispensaries of Montana.
According to a report from The Marijuana Herald which includes data from the Montana Department of Revenue, Montana's combined marijuana sales reached $28,550,882 in October compared to $27,728,562 in October 2024.
But between the months of January and October of this year? Shoot... I had to look twice.
Montana's cannabis sales in that time frame, in 2025, reached a whopping $272,938,344.
Montana's Cannabis Sales Are "High", But They're Not The "Highest"
First off, not sorry for the bad "high" joke; second, Montana's cannabis sales got me wondering: "Who's number one?" And I should've known before looking that the title of "highest" cannabis sales (sorry, did it again) goes to none other than California.

According to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cannabis Regulation, California's cannabis sales in 2024 were $4.66 billion... that's right, BILLION.
It's not likely that Montana will reach those numbers any time soon but still, we can't hate the money we're getting from marijuana sales.
