We all know that Montana law enforcement goes through extensive training to keep us safe but they also have to go out of their way to keep themselves in shape and at the top of their game to keep us safe.

Cascade County Sheriff's Office recently decided to have some fun with the fitness aspect of it and for an amazing cause.

Deputy Andre Lugo's Strength Inspires Montana Students To Read

Simms students are being treated to a live bench-press event thanks to their hard work and participation in the Pages For Power Reading Challenge - a school-wide challenge that encourages kids to read as much as possible... and empower their brains.

Deputy Lugo, School Resource Officer for Simms, took on the challenge much to the delight of students.

"The students love Deputy Lugo, and when they found out their reading totals could determine how much weight he has to lift… they lit up," Principal Luke McKinley said in a press release from Cascade County Sheriff's Office.

"They’re ready to push him to his limit."

Deputy Lugo Is Ready For The Challenge

And trust me when I say, Deputy Lugo is ready and never backs down from a challenge.

"I told the students if they read big, I’ll lift big," Deputy Lugo said in the press release. "If this challenge gets them reading more and shows them I’m here to support them, then load the bar. I’m ready."

The page goal for middle school students was set at 1,200 pages while the high school goal was 2,200 pages.

"Deputy Lugo is doing this because he cares about these kids," Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter said in the release. "If a bench press challenge gets them reading more and gives them a positive experience with law enforcement, we’re behind it 100 percent."

If you'd like to see just how much Deputy Lugo will lift for the kids, you can check out the Pages For Power Bench Press Assembly at Simms Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 25th at 1 PM.
