Sports Bet Montana Adds Prop Bets and Olympic Wagers
The biggest sports betting event of the year is this weekend's Super Bowl. Montanans can place bets on the Super Bowl using Sports Bet Montana.
How Sports Betting Works in Montana
Sports Bet Montana is the official sports betting branch of the Montana Lottery. For those who want to place a bet using the Sports Bet Montana app, you need to be in proximity to one of the official Sports Bet Montana machines located in bars and casinos across the state. Sports betting rules are set by the Montana Legislature, not the Montana Lottery.
Super Bowl Betting Trends and Stats
I spoke with Brady Schulz from Sports Bet Montana about the upcoming game. In 2024, Montanans bet $977,000 on the game. In 2025 there was a bit of a dip with $864,000 bet on the game. Schulz is expecting betting for the Super Bowl to be between $850,000 and $1 million. The amount may have been even higher if the matchup had been between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks.

This year, Sports Bet Montana has added novelty “prop bets” to the game. You can bet on whether the coin toss at the beginning of the game will be heads or tails, the length of the National Anthem, or what color Gatorade will be poured on the winning coach. According to Schulz, these bets weren’t available last year.

The Super Bowl isn’t the only big betting event coming up. Sports Bet Montana is going to offer Winter Olympic betting this year. According to Schulz, hockey is going to be a popular sport for betting, but people will be able to bet on other events and medal counts for the different countries competing in the Olympics.
What’s Next: Olympics and March Madness
After the Olympics, the NCAA College Basketball Tournament will be the next big sports betting event in Montana.
This fall you can expect Montana Lottery to be rolling out new terminals across the state that will offer more products all in one place. There will be Sports Bet, major games, and scratch tickets.
