State Sen. Brad Bekkedahl announced his intent to seek re-election to the North Dakota Senate, saying he hopes to continue representing District 1 and complete unfinished legislative priorities.

Bekkedahl, current President Pro Tempore of the North Dakota Senate, has served in the Senate since 2015. In a written statement, he said representing the district has been “the honor and privilege of a lifetime,” pointing to his lifelong ties to the city and family roots in Williston that span more than 100 years.

“The North Dakota Senate is a chamber where relationships and respect get results,” Bekkedahl said, crediting support from fellow lawmakers for helping advance legislation during his tenure.

Bekkedahl cited, who also chairs the state's appropriations committee, cited several policy areas he has worked on during his time in office, including hub city funding, debt relief, infrastructure projects, school revenue, tax relief and four-lane transportation improvements. He said those efforts were aimed at benefiting both Williston and the state as a whole.

He also acknowledged the support he has received from constituents and said he is seeking another term to finish work he believes remains unfinished.
