Williston Offers New CDL Opportunity for Veterans and Military Families
For veterans and military families looking for a new career opportunity, a Class A commercial driver's license could open some new doors.
TrainND Northwest at Williston State College is offering a grant-funded opportunity to help eligible members of the military community earn their CDL and gain skills that can lead to careers across the region.
Who Can Apply?
The program is available to veterans, active-duty military members, National Guard and Reserve members, and eligible military family members, including qualifying spouses and children.
Through the grant, TrainND Northwest will provide CDL training assistance for at least 11 eligible participants.
A Class A CDL can lead to employment opportunities in several industries that are important to the Williston area, including transportation, agriculture, construction, energy, and logistics.
Dr. Bernell Hirning, president of Williston State College, said the funding can help remove a significant financial barrier for military members and their families who are interested in commercial driving.

How the Grant Works
There is an important detail for anyone considering the program.
Participants will first enroll in TrainND Northwest's Class A CDL program through the standard enrollment process and are responsible for the initial program costs.
After successfully completing the program and meeting the grant requirements, eligible participants will be reimbursed for covered training costs.
Applicants will need to provide documentation verifying their military status or their eligibility as a qualifying spouse or child. Other registration and enrollment requirements remain the same as TrainND Northwest's standard CDL program.
Funding is limited, so those interested are encouraged to reach out as soon as possible to determine eligibility and begin the enrollment process.
