Richland County Health Department to Host Free Community Wellness Events in 2024
As part of this initiative, the Richland County Health Department will serve as a coordinated school and community "hub." This role involves hosting a series of free events for local families in collaboration with Dr. Tim Tharp, Richland County Superintendent of Schools, and the Boys and Girls Club of the MonDak. The event series, titled "Prioritizing School and Community Wellness," will kick off in fall of 2024 with an in-person launch at the Richland Boys and Girls Club in Sidney. Following the initial event, virtual training will continue throughout the 2024–25 school year.
Cook Center to Lead Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Sessions for Richland County
The Cook Center for Human Connection, a national organization that supports children, families, and schools in addressing mental health issues and preventing suicide, will lead the sessions. Their expertise will be instrumental in providing valuable resources and support to the Richland County community.
Community Input Needed: Take the Survey to Shape Wellness Events
To ensure that these events address the most pressing needs of the community, input from residents is essential. A brief three-minute survey has been made available for community members to share their insights and influence the content and focus of the "Prioritizing School and Community Wellness" series. The survey can be accessed at this link.
“I am very happy that Richland County was chosen to receive this grant, as it will allow us to further explore what services we can provide in rural Montana, knowing that mental health resources are extremely limited,” said Dr. Tharp.
Jessica Gilbert, the Richland County Behavioral Health/Crisis Coordinator, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to engage with partners to support students and schools. “The Richland County Health Department is excited for this opportunity to engage with partners to support our students and schools,” she stated.
