Camping in North Dakota: A Little Slice of Outdoor Heaven — Just Keep an Eye on the Sky!
Camping in North Dakota is truly something special. Where else can you cast a line into a sparkling lake, breathe in that crisp prairie air, and wind down with a crackling campfire under a sky full of stars? Whether you’re pitching your tent along the shores of Lake Sakakawea, exploring the rugged beauty of the Badlands, or just spending the weekend at your favorite little fishing hole, it’s safe to say that it’s just a little better up here!

Here Are A Few Safety Tips From The National Weather Service
So, if you’re camping this summer, do yourself a favor and be weather-ready! Before you zip up the tent and toss the fishing poles in the truck, spend a few minutes checking the forecast. It’s simple, but it can save you from soggy socks and soggier s’mores.
And while you’re at it, pack a NOAA Weather Radio to stay in the know, even when you’re miles from cell service. An emergency kit is also a smart idea, and throw in a flashlight, first aid supplies, and extra water. You’ll be glad you did if a sudden storm decides to crash your marshmallow roast.
Most importantly, have a plan for when thunder starts rumbling. North Dakota’s wide-open spaces are beautiful but not the best place to hang out during a lightning storm. If you hear thunder, move to a sturdy shelter or your hard-topped vehicle. Avoid open fields, hilltops, and tall trees...basically, all the spots we love to camp!

Remember: when thunder roars, go indoors, even in the great outdoors. So go ahead, grab the tackle box, load up the cooler, and hit the great North Dakota wild. Just keep one eye on the sky, and your camping trip will be unforgettable for all the right reasons!
