Beware of 'Brushing Scams': Receiving Mysterious Packages Could Signal Fraud
The term "brushing scam" refers to a situation in which you get an unexpected parcel in the mail, which frequently gives the impression of coming from a well-known institution. The products that are generally included in these bundles include things like bracelets, rings, Bluetooth speakers, and other small presents. Here is where things get interesting. There is no information on the sender of the return message, which raises suspicion.
Warning: Scanning Mystery Package QR Codes Could Lead to Identity Theft
Inside the package, you may find a QR code claiming to reveal who sent the gift. DO NOT SCAN THIS QR CODE. You read that correctly! Con artists are using these codes to steal personal and financial information from an individual's mobile device. Simply by scanning the code, you run the risk of unintentionally providing them with access to your private information.
