As Halloween draws near, it’s the perfect time to revisit the mystery of our “permanent resident” here at the station.

It all started back in 2015 when our General Manager, Larry Timpe, received a surprising call from Trenton High School. Their senior class wanted to know if they could hunt for ghosts at our station for a debate project on—what else—whether ghosts are real.

So, how did we end up on their list? Turns out, one student’s mother, a former part-timer here, had tipped them off about the station’s “spooky” reputation. With curiosity piqued, the students arranged a ghost hunt, and the halls here buzzed with tales of eerie sights and sounds—everything from strange shadows to swinging phone cords and faint footsteps when no one else was around.

When the big night arrived, the students set up their ghost-hunting equipment. Larry locked up our station cats, wished them good luck, and left them to it. For hours, it was quiet. But as the clock struck 3:00 a.m., things took a spooky turn. Equipment lit up, and recordings picked up faint whispers, almost like a voice saying, “be quiet.”

But the most chilling piece? A photo of a shadowy figure peeking out from a door, where there had been nothing moments before. Seeing the silhouette gave us all a shiver! To this day, I hate going into that room!

So, as we revisit these ghostly tales, we have to wonder: should we keep the Ghostbusters on speed dial? Happy Halloween!
