The great soda-pop-coke debate is alive and well! Depending on where you live, you might call it "soda," "pop," or even "coke" (regardless of brand!). But that's a discussion for another day. Today, let's dive into something equally fun: what are the most popular fizzy drinks in our region?

I recently stumbled across an interesting survey by Holiday Calendar, ranking the top sodas for each state. Let’s take a quick look at how North Dakota, Montana, South Dakota, and Minnesota stack up!

North Dakota

Topping the list in North Dakota is none other than Mountain Dew. Clearly, North Dakotans like their caffeine with a punch! Following closely behind is the classic Coca-Cola, and rounding out the top three is the beloved Root Beer, a nostalgic favorite for floats.

Montana

Montana flips the script with Pepsi taking the crown. Clearly, it’s all about personal taste across state lines! Coca-Cola comes in second here, maintaining its timeless appeal, while Root Beer makes another appearance in third place. Who can resist that old-fashioned charm?

South Dakota

South Dakotans agree with their northern neighbors, placing Mountain Dew at the top of their soda-loving hearts. However, Root Beer edges out Coca-Cola for the number two spot, with Coca-Cola rounding out the list.

Minnesota

And last but not least, in Minnesota, Mountain Dew reigns supreme once again, followed by Root Beer in second and Coca-Cola in third.

LOOK: 35 Vintage Cereals That Perfectly Captured Pop Culture Moments

Movies and TV shows have always found ways to partner with cereal companies as part of their promotion strategy.
