Remedial Actions

Consumers with affected models are advised to contact Electrolux, the manufacturer, to participate in the recall. The company will verify if the range is repairable based on its serial number. For repairable ranges, Electrolux will provide a free inspection and repair. If the range cannot be repaired, consumers will receive a $50 electronic gift card and reimbursement of up to $60 for the haul-away fee, provided they submit proof of purchase for a new range and the haul-away fee. Electrolux may reimburse higher haul-away fees with proper documentation.

Incidents and Injuries

Since the recall's initial announcement in August 2009, Electrolux has received 212 reports of erratic behavior, including 14 fires and eight burn injuries. These incidents highlight the severe risks associated with the malfunctioning ranges.

Sales Information

The recalled ranges were sold at Sears and independent appliance stores nationwide from June 2001 through August 2009, priced between $1,000 and $2,500.

For safety, consumers should avoid leaving anything on the range when it is not in use and promptly contact Electrolux to address the issue. This proactive measure can prevent further injuries and potential fires.
