If you regularly park in downtown Williston, you may want to make a little room for a parking plan.

Beginning September 28, weather permitting, three public parking lots will be temporarily closed as part of a parking lot improvement project. The work will include milling and overlaying the existing pavement to improve the lots.

The closures are expected to last for approximately one month once construction begins.

Great Northern Lot

The Great Northern Lot, also known as the North Lot, will be among the first public parking areas affected by the project.

Employees and customers who normally use the lot will need to find alternate parking while construction is underway.

City Hall Lot

The City Hall Lot will also be closed during the improvement project.

The temporary closure is necessary to allow crews to complete the mill and overlay work throughout the parking area.

Gate City Bank Lot

The Gate City Bank Lot, also known as the South Lot, rounds out the three parking locations included in the project.

City officials are asking employees and customers to plan ahead and use alternative parking during the construction period.

While a month without these parking spaces may require a little extra planning, the goal is to improve the lots and provide better public parking once the work is complete.

The project is weather dependent, so the start date could change if conditions do not cooperate.
