A New Truck Stop, Minigolf And More Just Got City Funding In Williston

The Williston City Commission approved up to $454,500 in STAR Fund grants during its June 23 meeting, supporting a range of local business development projects.

The funding includes several Flex PACE buydowns for projects across the city. Cornerpost received up to $108,000 for a new truck stop along the 85 West Bypass. Bogey’s was approved for up to $45,000 for a mini-golf attraction near Williston Water World, while Johnny’s Tavern received up to $35,000 to purchase an existing Main Street business.

Additional approvals include up to $48,000 for Typhoon Properties to expand its shop on Bean Drive, $67,500 for 4th Dimension Surveying & Consulting to construct a new building in the Bennett Subdivision, and $42,500 each for Blank Canvas Salon and OneCor Services for expansion and equipment purchases.

DBat, through Stix Investments, was approved for an infrastructure match of up to $108,500 for a new building at Williston Square.

The commission also approved a $5,000 grant for the Western Star Foundation to support an entrepreneur workshop. A separate $1 million request from McKenzie Health for a specialty clinic at Badlands Town Center remains contingent on securing additional funding by July 1, 2027.

An increase to a C4 Façade Program grant for 2D Ink, from $10,000 to $20,000, was approved to meet ADA accessibility requirements.

The STAR Fund is supported by a voter-approved, 1-cent city sales tax. Seventy-five percent is allocated to offset infrastructure costs, while the remaining 25% supports job creation, business development, and retention. The fund is overseen by a seven-member advisory board that meets monthly.
