The North Dakota Highway Patrol and Williston First Responders will hold their annual toy drive on Saturday, December 2 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Walmart in Williston. The community is invited to come together, to make Christmas a little better for people in our area.

This is one of the biggest efforts in the state as first responders from Williston, Bismarck, Lincoln, Northwood, Manvel, and Thompson are all getting together to make this happen. Last year, as the NDHP tallied everything up from efforts in Williston, Fargo, and Bismarck, nearly 3000 toys were collected statewide, and lots of food was collected as well.

Locally, the Williston Police Department, Williams County Sheriff's Department, Williston Fire & Ambulance, NDHP Williston District, and Williams County Emergency Management along with Williston Auto and Lichtey Homes will host the Williston Drive. In previous years, around 900 toys were collected, and $3000-$5000 was raised to purchase toys!

Williston Auto

With any fun event, you know there will be characters on hand to add to the festivities. I am hoping the Grinch, Santa, some elves will be by to make things even more memorable! The pickups that will be used to collect the items will come from Williston Auto, so you can swing on in and kick the tires on a potential new ride too. I do need to point out that the location is key too. Walmart is letting organizers use their parking lot for this big undertaking.

Townsquare Media will be on hand for a live broadcast from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm raising awareness of the event, and encouraging listeners to be a part of this great community event. Remember, kids and families throughout North Dakota will have a much better holiday thanks to all of your generous donations in Williston and throughout North Dakota. Our local donations will stay local to support Christmas for Kids, The Giving Tree Program, The Salvation Army, and the Gloria Dei Food Pantry. See you Saturday!
