Montana Concertgoers: Don’t Make the Same KettleHouse Mistake I Did
I attended my first concert this summer at Kettlehouse Amphitheater on Sunday. A couple of friends, my girlfriend, and I saw Lord Huron.
The show was incredible. It was my fifth time seeing Lord Huron, and they were as good as ever.

The show wasn't the problem. It was my preparation for the conditions...
Earlier in the day, it was rainy and cool. We figured there would be a chance of precipitation, so we brought our rain ponchos. We were ready for the rain, but then it didn't rain.
Good deal, right?
Well, we didn't prepare for how cold it was going to be...
The temperature dropped to 40 degrees in Bonner during the concert, and let me tell you, it was FRIGID. I thought I came prepared, I really did. I had a sweatshirt and a jacket over that with a stocking cap, jeans, and a blanket to sit on.
IT WASN'T ENOUGH. I love Lord Huron. As I said, it was my fifth time seeing the band, but I was nearing my tipping point late in the show. Fortunately, we toughed it out and stayed the whole time, but it took me the whole ride home to thaw out.

Here's my advice to you: Even if the weather is nice and sunny when you arrive at Kettlehouse, make sure you pack for the temp to drop 10 degrees. Bring extra layers because when the sun goes down, you will need that coverage.

I'm kicking myself, because I've been there several times before. Why did I not prepare for 40 degrees?

More tips for Kettlehouse Amphitheater
- Ride the shuttle. The shuttle runs from The Top Hat to Kettlehouse every 15-20 minutes leading up to the start of the show.
- If you have to drive, consider parking in one of the lots outside the KettleHouse grounds. You'll have to walk, but it will cost less, and by the time you reach your car, the traffic should have died down.
