Guy Fieri Loves This Montana Gem And So Will You
Let's be honest, most everything is "south" of Montana.
I was born and raised in Missouri, which is considered the South by some. We did the whole "Yes Sir" and "Yes Ma'am" thing, and you didn't have to go very far to find a breakfast spot that served grits.
One of the things that I've noticed of late, living here in Big Sky Country, is all of the southern accents I hear. It seems like a whole lot of our southern neighbors are moving to Montana. Of course, one of the great staples of the South is the cooking.
Southern Food, Soul Food, Comfort Food, whatever you want to call it, I don't think anyone does it better than the South, and when it comes to great "Southern Food," the options can be limited here in Montana.

Where is the best Southern food in Montana?
While there are a few spots you can check out around the Treasure State, according to Food Network's Guy Fieri, the best of the best is located in Bozeman.
For many, Roost is a must-try restaurant when they visit Bozeman. The restaurant was featured on the show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and has some of the best fried chicken this side of the Mason-Dixon Line.
The folks at Roost know what they're doing with a heritage that goes back decades and starts in Tennessee. All you have to do is take a look at the menu, and you know it's the real deal. Menu items include: fried chicken, collard greens, cheesy grits, okra, mac and cheese, cole slaw, and others.
Oh, and did I mention the chicken and waffles? So, how good is Roost?
I would put them in the Top 5 of the best fried chicken I've ever had, and that includes my Grandma Wolf's. Of course, Roost isn't the only place to find genuine southern cooking. There's Shellie's Country Cafe in Helena, Southern Dish in Red Lodge, and while it might not be considered southern, you can't talk about comfort food and not mention The Western in Bozeman.
