Popular Illegal Drug On The Rise In Montana
It's not Breaking News to say that Montana has an issue with illegal drugs. All you have to do is turn on a local newscast, read a paper, or get online to see that here in Big Sky Country, the illegal drug business is thriving.
While Montana has been dealing with this issue for years, it seems like it's becoming a bigger problem, especially with the increase of the dangerous drug Fentanyl.
We've all seen the facts and figures, just a little bit of the synthetic opioid can kill whoever takes it, throw in the fact that the opioid is being disguised in other drugs, and we are seeing more and more Montanans playing a dangerous game.
However, according to new information, when it comes to illegal drugs in Montana, one of the most popular across the state has been around for years.
Which illegal drug is on the rise in Montana?
The folks over at Non-Stop Local ran a story about how cocaine is on the rise across the state, especially in Missoula where they've seen a 70 percent increase. Cocaine has been around for decades, but rose to popularity in the 70s and 80s, and looks to be making a comeback.
Cocaine has long been considered a "designer" drug and has been popular with the rich and famous. For many years, the "average" person couldn't afford it, however, that looks to be changing.
In case you're wondering possession of cocaine is a felony in Montana and can include up to 5 years in prison and a 50 thousand-dollar fine. Possession with intent to sell in Montana can get you 20 years in prison and a 50k fine.
Here's another issue. The stuff you buy could be laced with other drugs, including Fentanyl so not only do you risk a prison sentence and a hefty fine, but you could also be putting your life at risk in a big way.
