When I was a kid, I was all about my ride. Yes, I was one of those degenerate youth who would put a thousand dollar stereo in a five hundred dollar car. Throw on some cool wheels, and you had a whip for the ages.

As I got older, it was less about the flash and more about the comfort and milage.

Some folks are all about the new vehicle. I'm not one of those people. I've never owned a brand new car, plus, once I get a vehicle, I'm likely to drive it until it will no longer go anymore.

Montana is an interesting place when it comes to vehicles. When you think of Big Sky Country, you think of Cowboys and Ranches, so you would think we would have lots of trucks here, right? Well, we do, but we also have very wealthy people that call Montana home, at least part of the year, so you will also see your fair share of "supercars".

Which vehicle is the most stolen in Montana?

So, when it comes to car theft, which vehicle is the most stolen in Montana? Well, I can tell you it's not a "supercar". We mentioned that Montana has lots of trucks, and it just so happens that trucks are the most stolen vehicle in the state, but the question is, what make and model of truck?

It turns out that it's not just one brand of truck that is frequently stolen, it's actually three. Compare The Market released a list of the most stolen vehicles in each state and when it comes to Montana, here are the Top 3:

  • Chevrolet Truck
  • Ford Truck
  • GMC Truck

It seems when it comes to car thieves in Montana, they prefer trucks, and they prefer American made vehicles. The good news? Montana isn't in the Top 10 of states with the most stolen vehicles, in fact, the Treasure State isn't even in the Top 25. Montana comes in at 26th.

It's probably a good tip to make sure if you do own a truck and live in Montana, you keep it locked. That's also solid advice for any vehicle you might own.
