We have the landscape to make some games unique.

Video Games and Montana

We have a few.

Some video games have fictional cities or landscapes, and that's fun.

When video games use real places, they can feel more authentic to players.

One famous video game set in Montana is Far Cry 5.

The game's setting is in Southwest Montana, and the visuals are stunning.

The game plot revolves around a cult uprising, and you have to help restore order in the area. You deal with cultists and wildlife attacking you, but you can take a break and enjoy some fishing during your free time.

The game was immensely successful when it came out, and many video game fans loved the luscious landscape Montana offered for an open-world game.

This idea had us thinking about what other video game franchises would benefit from Montana's landscape.

We came up with three franchises.

Top 3 Video Game Franchises That Should Include Montana

Our parameters for the games were simple.

The video game franchises had to be set in the real world and have a fantastic track record for producing fantastic video games.

Here are the three video game franchises we came up with.

1. Red Dead Series

The massive Western video game franchise has three successful games in the series. The game's setting is primarily the Southwest and Southeast United States. If they centered the game around Montana, you could see old ghost towns like Virginia City and Garnet come to life.

The game landscape is so vast that it could include parts of Idaho, Wyoming, and the Dakotas to make it even more in-depth.

Who wouldn't want that game?

2. Fallout

A post-apocalyptic Montana? Who wouldn't want to roam around the state fighting ghouls, marauders, and 50s futuristic robots?

Fallout has made games set in California, Nevada, Boston, Washington D.C., and West Virginia. A Fallout game with more cowboy or Western aesthetics would be a hit with new and returning fans.

3. Days Gone

This video game is where a virus has taken over, but Days Gone has a unique mode of transportation. You have to use a motorcycle to travel over long distances.

Picture riding a motorcycle across Montana in a desolate landscape.

Sounds quite beautiful. The game has been hinting at a sequel for years, and the first game was set in Oregon, so heading to Montana would be a unique change.

Either way, many video game franchises could benefit from using Montana's landscape for their games.

Which one would you like to see become a reality?
