New ND State Law All Set To Restrict Public Schools Rights
Some of the freedoms that older kids in school have enjoyed are going away
That is made clear from the very start. When I was in school, this wasn't an issue, mainly because THIS wasn't around. Think about just how much we all rely on our cell phones; it's really kind of like a wallet or a purse. All of our personal information is stored in our phone, you can scan it at the airport, and you can pay for dinner with it as well - Starting on the first of August, school kids will face some big changes regarding their cell phones.
Senate Bill 2354 will kick in on the first of August
In the years past, high school students had more freedom with their phones - during lunch or recess, they had full use of them. Not anymore. According to inforum.com "Senate Bill 2354 mandates that all personal electronic communication devices are stowed away and inaccessible during the school day. the new policy states that from bell to bell during the school day, students will not be permitted to use any personal device capable of voice, text, data communication or internet access, including cellphones, smartwatches, earbuds, or personal tablets or computers"
Is this a form of punishment?
Absolutely not, although the students might differ on that. One Fargo Public Schools Superintendent has said research has shown that "...the devices are negatively impacting the mental health of children and their connections to others. If the phones ARE brought to school, they must be stored in the student's locker ( good luck with that ) - I personally believe in our world today, that school kids SHOULD be allowed to hold on to their phones in case of any kind of emergency.
