June 27th Should Be A Holiday In North Dakota
I'm going to go ahead and make that statement - "June 27th should be a holiday in North Dakota"
When you find out WHY, you will no doubt agree with me. "Opening Day" is two special words in my mind - they mean many things to me. One as in Little League baseball - "Opening Day" - first pitch, the smell of green grass in the air, followed by "Play Ball" - then don't forget about peanuts and cracker jack ( "you'll never go back..." ) What would you guess my second favorite "Opening Day" is?
If you said it has to do with one of the greatest traditions around - Fireworks"..you would be correct.
June 27th is the "Opening Day" when you can buy fireworks! According to mortonnd.org "The sales and use of fireworks are governed by NDCC Chapter 23-15. Sales of fireworks are authorized by licensed sellers from June 27 to July 5, and December 26 to January 1.
The use of fireworks in the cities of Mandan, Flasher, New Salem, Glen Ullin, and Hebron is governed by that city's ordinance. Unless otherwise posted, fireworks may be shot from midnight (12:00 AM) June 27th through midnight (12:00 AM), July 6th in the county"
So now that you have the green light beginning tomorrow, where will you go to buy fireworks?
Here is a list of places you can go:
