St. Patrick's Day is on the horizon, and with it, a ton of great local events are coming up in Bismarck-Mandan. Before you start doing an Irish jig and start dyeing everything green, you might want to prepare for another local event happening on March 11th.

This Wednesday, one of the most unique North Dakota foods is being celebrated at the Mandan Moose Lodge. Get ready for the "Testicle Festival." You read that correctly, tons of people will be gathering together to feast on deep-fried bull testicles.

I know this sounds like something they would feature on Fear Factor, but it is a real thing people enjoy, so much so that there are festivals for it.

Rocky Mountain Oysters

In North Dakota, we sugarcoat what we're eating by calling them "Rocky Mountain Oysters." Does that make it any less grotesque? - No, not in my opinion, but hey, to each their own. Maybe these are the most delicious things in the world.

I'm not originally from North Dakota, so I thought it was a joke when I first heard this. To my surprise and disgust, I found out that it was not a joke. In fact, many North Dakotans consider this a delicacy.

According to the City of Mandan's website, the Testicle Festival is open to the community 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, March 11th. Meals are priced at 16.99 + tax.
