Summer is here and we love to get outside and have some fun in the sun as much as possible. We want to get out, hit the hiking trails, visit local parks, and see all the things nature has to offer.

While you're out and about, you might want to take your dogs with you, so they can enjoy all of the same summer delights.

While that is a great idea, there is something you should keep in mind.

You might see your dog eating grass and think it's innocent enough. After all, we've been told that dogs and sometimes cats do this when their stomachs are upset and they are feeling sick. While that may be true, there are some plants you definitely want to keep your dogs away from.

Yes, just as many plants are toxic for humans to eat, they are toxic to our pets too.

To help you identify which ones you need to keep your dogs away from, we've put together a list.

Let's take a look.

There you have it. Those are just some of the plants you don't want your dogs to come in contact with this summer. Some of these might even be in your backyard. Just remember, your pets can look, but they certainly shouldn't touch or eat.

Keep in mind that there are probably several more plants that are toxic to dogs, but these are just some common ones you might stumble across during your adventures throughout North Dakota.

Stay safe, have fun, and enjoy the long-awaited summer months.
