Keep Those Kids Busy During Winter Break In ND
Christmas break is in full swing. The kids are at home and you can feel all the excitement in the air! It's almost 2 weeks of downtime for them. Have you been wondering what to do to keep them busy while the weather is as cold as it has been? I can help!
Movie Marathon
While you don't want your kids to be glued to the TV for the whole school break, a scheduled afternoon or evening of movie watching can be enjoyable. For your movie marathon, decide on a theme or genre, or just ask everyone to pick their favorite film. Make some popcorn, gather your favorite movie snacks, plush cushions, and blankets, then kick back and enjoy!
Go Bowling
For young children or beginner bowlers, many bowling alleys offer bumper bowling, where the gutters are covered so that the ball stays in the lane. This allows the kids to focus on having fun instead of getting frustrated by having their bowling ball continuously roll into the gutter. Strike Zone in Williston also offers glow-in-the-dark bowling, which kicks up the excitement level a notch. They also have some of the best pizza in town too!
Make a Family Scrapbook
You probably have hundreds or perhaps thousands of images on your computer that you have never printed if you own a digital camera or smartphone. Printing some of them out and taking the effort to arrange them into scrapbooks or photo albums is a wonderful idea. You can work on this project with your kids, or you can give them each a stack of pictures of themselves with their loved ones so they can create their own memory scrapbook or album.
Go Swimming
Head to the Williston ARC while the kids are on Christmas break! It's a quick and fairly inexpensive method to get everyone out of the house and having some fun at our local pool.
Redecorate the Kids' Bedrooms
If your children's bedrooms haven't been renovated in a while, they could welcome the chance to give it a little facelift. This might be a great project to work on throughout the summer, whether you paint, rearrange the furniture, get new bedding or a few new furnishings. It's also a great time to make some extra room in their closets for the new clothes they may have gotten as Christmas presents.
There's plenty of things to do that do not involve traveling over winter break. With a little planning, and some creativity, you can keep the kiddos busy while having some fun too.
