Healthcare is crucial when it comes to cancer prevention, support and care. Our region is in high need of more Certified Nurse Assistants. Williston High School recently noted that they have 22 more students wanting CNA training than they had room for in their CNA class offered during the 2022-2023 school year.

According to Paula Lankford, Workforce Center Manager at Job Service ND in Williston, the CNA training costs $1200. Besides the WIOA program through Job Service North Dakota (which has specific eligibility requirements), the only other tuition help available for this training is a CNA Scholarship through Train ND Foundation in Williston.
Paula Lankford is not only busy with her daily work at Job Service and her involvement with Williston Strong and Williston Run Club, but she has also been preparing to run her first marathon in the first Williston Marathon on June 3. A few moths ago, Paula started a campaign in order to help raise awareness and funds for the CNA Scholarship program at TrainND Foundation AND to help keep herself motivated and accountable in her marathon training.
After raising about 20% of her $12,000 goal - Paula had to put the scholarship fundraiser on the backburner in order to organize and promote the Williston Strong 5K Walk/Run, which was a more urgent community need. (Williston stepped up to help the 5 families affected and $12,500+ was raised for them.)
Paula hopes you'll consider giving to the campaign. It doesn't matter your main reason for donating - wanting to support the CNA scholarship program or wanting to support her in the marathon running.
The goal is to raise $12,000. This equates to ten CNA scholarships. Funds go directly to the TrainND Foundation CNA Scholarship. Train ND Foundation is a Non-Profit Organization providing scholarships to individuals seeking workforce training to fill high demand jobs in North Dakota.
Every dollar donated is greatly appreciated. (The payment platform used by TrainND Foundation (Zeffy) will suggest a tip to cover the platform cost, but just change that to "other" and chose $0).
