This Popular Household Item Will Soon Be Banned In Montana.
A popular item found in almost every Montana home will soon be illegal throughout the state.
Over the years, we've discovered that many different items used in or around the house might not be the best for us, (lead pipes, lead paint, etc.) and it seems that the latest is something we use every day, for hours a day, and starting August 1st of this year will become illegal in Montana.
However, before you panic, you should probably know all the facts and what it means regarding you and your home.
Back in May of 2022, according to Super Bright LEDs, the Department of Energy decided that it was time to issue new standards on light bulbs. So, starting August 1st of 2023, the following types of lightbulbs will be illegal in Montana and the rest of the United States.
- Traditional A19 bulbs
- Traditional PAR30 bulbs
- Traditional Decor bulbs
The reason for the ban? Well, first and foremost the Government would like us to be more energy efficient and want us to switch over to using LED lights in our homes. Starting August 1st, it will be illegal to sell incandescent and halogen bulbs.
If you have these bulbs in your home, don't worry, the light police aren't going to show up and take you in, however, when you go to replace them, the LED lights are going to be your only option. Oh and for those of you not a fan of change, here's some good news. Apparently, the new LED lights use as much as 85 percent less energy and last 5 times longer than traditional bulbs, which means savings on your utility bill.
Now, I know what you're thinking "but they cost more!". That's true, there are more expensive, but once again, according to all of the "experts" you save money in the long run, plus, it doesn't look like we have much of a choice in the matter.
