Winter still has a good grip on the northern plains for another couple of months. You and the kids might find yourselves going stir crazy. The kids especially might need something do to. Let me suggest some ice fishing! two local groups are getting things put together for a kids fishing outing on Saturday, February 11.

2022 Kids Ice Fishing
Join Williams County Parks and the United Sportsmen of Williston for a fun-filled afternoon at Kota Ray Dam for the second annual Kids Ice Fishing Derby! There is no entry fee to participate. Please bring your own pole and tackle; bait will be provided. Be sure to enter the drawing for door prizes! The fun starts at 1:00pm, and they plan to fish for at least 3 hours.

2022 Fishing Derby
There are some rules in place to ensure everyone had a good time.
  • Open to kids ages 15 and under. All youth must be accompanied by an adult
  • Fish houses, Tents/Clams, and sonar are allowed
  • Residents and nonresidents age 16 and older need a fishing license. Residents under age 16 may take and possess a limit of fish without a fishing license. Any nonresident under age 16 may take and possess a limit of fish without a nonresident fishing license if accompanied by an individual possessing a valid fishing license. Visit the Game and Fish website to purchase a license online.
