North Dakota Is Seeing Better Prices For Football Food Favorites
Big Game Sunday is on February 12th this year. Whether your team made it or not, it's the biggest day for football. While listening to our network news provider, ABC News, they were talking about food prices for the big day. Believe it or not, some food prices have gone down a bit.
As you do your grocery shopping for NFL Sunday, you might see party staples like chicken wings and guacamole will cost a little less this year, according to a new report from USA today. The report cited Michael Swanson, Wells Fargo's chief agricultural economist, saying that he has seen some improvement in the US food system.
Avocados
I will not lie...I am not a fan of guacamole. I have yet to find anyone that really makes it well. But, If you enjoy this green dip, you will be happy to know that avocado prices have dropped about 20%. That's according to the same report Wells Fargo released a couple of days ago that was published by USA Today.
Chicken Wings
I see you smiling! Those wings look amazing! Smile bigger because the report goes on to say that the supply of chicken is at its best levels since early 2019. Prices have dropped from around $3.38/lb to around $2.65/lb for festivities this year. So load up the cart, and get ready to pig out on this fan favorite at your big football party.
Hamburger
Hamburger prices are up a little from last year, but they have fallen from their highest in July. That is good news for taco, hamburger, chili, or spaghetti lovers! It might be a good idea to buy some extra just in case. Here is a bonus. The report indicates that sirloin steak prices have improved by at least $1.00/lb since December. If your budget allows, indulge to your heart's content! Just remember to call your favorite radio announcer with the correct dinner time! Egg prices are still way out of whack...we will tackle that issue soon.
