The glass slipper is coming to Butte.

The Mother Lode Theater is inviting the community to step into a world of magic an enchantment as the World Ballet Company brings its Broadway-style production of Cinderella to the stage.  Organizers say the production is designed to delight audiences of all ages, blending humor, romance and the grandeur of classical ballet into one unforgettable evening.

This is not a scaled-down fairy tale.  This production features a cast of 40 international dancers, more than 150 hand-sewn costumes and elaborate hand-crafted sets.  Choreographer Marina Kesler brings fresh energy to the beloved story, from the antics of the mischievous stepsisters to the sweeping elegance of the Royal Ballroom scenes.  Every detail is designed to immerse the audience in the timeless promise of "happily ever after" with the familiar reminder that when the clock strikes midnight, everything changes.

The performance has a run time of approximately 2 hours, including a 20-minute intermission and is open to ages 2 and up making it an accessible introduction to ballet for young families while still offering the technical artistry seasoned patrons expect.

Based in Los Angeles and led by Sasha Gorskaya and Gulya Hartwich, World Ballet Company operates under the motto "Ballet Everywhere, Ballet For All".  The company tours extensively, presenting iconic ballets in communities nationwide.  To date, it has travelled to more than 300 cities and reached more than 500,000 audience members, many attending a ballet for the very first time.

For Butte-area residents this stop offers a rare opportunity to experience an internationally-cast production close to home -- no pumpkin carriage required.
